Welcome to Basin & Range Outdoors

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat. ~Theodore Roosevelt

Basin & Range Outdoors was created to share the adventures experienced by two brothers in the American West. From the highest alpine terrains to the lowest sonoran deserts we will chronicle the pain and triumph that accompanies all of our outdoor pursuits.

There will be no high-fence hunts, no fly fishing lodges, no streamside caviar and wine breaks. Instead, you can expect cold nights sleeping in the dirt, flat tires on old trucks, and big dreams realized on small budgets. With Basin & Range Outdoors you will find useful reviews of hunting and fly fishing products, techniques, locations, and a general review of our outdoor expeditions on public land.

Friend of B&R Outdoors Draws Coveted Elk Tag

Chris H. gets pulled from the proverbial AZGF hat… and draws his second choice, Early 7w Archery Bull Elk. The chances of drawing this tag last year was 1/10 and was drawn with 4 bonus points. I have high hopes for this hunt and will be tagging along with Chris from the first scouting trip to the last bite of jerky (God willing).
Everything I have heard about this unit and hunt has been positive. From public land access to harvest rates all point to a good hunt. Even Huntin’ Fool had good things to say. To paraphrase their January 2010 issue; "7w can be a fine unit for 340+ bulls…"  And with the rain AZ has received in the past month or two, my hopes for colossal horn growth are mounting.

Congrats Chris!!!
